Support the development or commercialisation of a product that can drive Australian food exports and/or food technology particularly to the Asian region.
The MAD Business Award – Food Innovation - will recognise:

I often find myself caught between the depths of despair and the heights of euphoric optimism—two opposing forces that seem to define our world today.
Despair sets in when I see a world marred by corruption, greed and politics hell bent on power and growth without consideration for the future.
I see children dying because “grown-ups” play mindless war games. I see the money that’s being spent on these wars and wonder what we could achieve if that was channelled into education, health, the environment…
I hear news of the global environment collapsing, glaciers melting, oceans rising, food bowls under stress, and a planet unable to support the diversity of species that it has sustained for thousands of years. There’s talk of us being in the midst of the sixth mass extinction event on this planet.
Yet, in the midst of this darkness, there is light – I have hope when I start having conversations with inspirational, visionary leaders and founders of businesses dedicated to making a difference on the planet. Developing new technologies, new ideas with transformational innovation and creativity, that’s addressing small and massive problems that we, as a species, face.
Revolutionary breakthroughs in heath, food, energy, pollution, the environment and education.
Projects that have the potential to change the world for the better.
And this truly excites me.
I consider myself very fortunate. As I sit here on my farm on the Mid North Coast of Australia, with clean air, fresh food grown locally, crystal clean drinking water, in a beautiful, abundant environment that isn’t crowded and is very quiet and peaceful, I feel incredibly blessed and grateful.
I have two children, well young adults, that are starting their journey, and I look at the future they face, compared to the future and the opportunities I had at their age, and I feel it’s incumbent upon me to use my time, energy, networks, resources, skills, wisdom and knowledge to help channel capital, resources and energy into supporting creative visionary people on the planet that are determined to make a difference.
I’ve spent the last few years working with my business partner, Macleay Christopherson, and a team of extraordinary people building MAD Ventures.
MAD is our vehicle through which we will channel capital and resources into projects and people that are making a difference on the planet.
