Highlights
Rethink Agri-Food Innovation Week in San Francisco did not disappoint last week! I am grateful to have spent quality time with very good friends last week, and grateful for the opportunity to make many more friends who share #InnovationPartners interest in global food and environmental security.
First, thank you to my fellow panel members at the #AnimalAgTech Innovation Summit on shifting our focus to preventative healthcare - J.J. Jones at NIAA, Steve Lerner at CHR Hansen, Matthew Tebeau at Proteon Pharma, and Katie Cook at Elanco - a great discussion, and fun to highlight how #Medgene is contributing with prescription vaccines on their platform technology!
Second, thank you to everyone for meaningful discussions while networking at #WorldAgriTech Innovation Summit and #FutureFoodTech. #Houdek / #PrairieAquaTech are doing their part by leveraging their fermentation platform to upcycle agriculture processing by-products like soybean meal, distillers grain, canola meal, etc. to aquaculture feed products like ME-PRO, pet food products like Proteger, and soon-to-be-announced human food ingredients and precision fermentation media sources.
Last but most important, thank you to all of my fellow entrepreneurs - "it takes a village" to tackle the challenges that society faces, and we stand with you in support of your mission - please reach out to us if we can be a partner!
This past weekend, the world celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. I have the distinct honor and privilege of serving with an incredible group of women in science who are absolutely relentless in solving some of the world's greatest challenges - food and environmental security, emerging and zoonotic disease prevention, innovative technologies focused on inequities, etc.
One of our colleagues appropriately reminded us of this iconic photo featuring Marie Curie with her fellow scientists at the 1927 Solvay Conference. Curie was the first scientist to win two Nobel Prizes, and only one of two scientists to accomplish it in two different fields. Imagine for a minute where we would be as a society without Curie and so many other women in science - I know that our companies would simply not be here without our #womeninscience.
