When I took the plunge into self-employment back in March, it wasn't without a great deal of trepidation. Not knowing what's around the corner is daunting, especially when you've enjoyed financial stability for so many years. But I've learned a few things over the last nine months. Not to underestimate the skills I've honed as a journalist for almost 30 years - and how those skills can be of value to others - is one. Knowing I can adapt to big change is another. But this post isn't about me. It's to say thank you to all those who have supported me, both with sage advice and work, this year. As the old adage goes, no person is an island and without the help of others, the last nine months would have been much, much harder than they turned out to be.
