Salesforce proves it: AI doesn't save business models

Salesforce lost 20% of its market capitalisation - around 50bn dollars.

As always, when the figures are actually positive (profit was 6x higher than before), it is due to the outlook. Salesforce has a huge problem: it cannot monetise the value of its AI products.

This is even more astonishing given that Salesforce has been aggressively promoting its "Einstein AI" since 2016 - for much longer than most other tech companies around it.

The problem that is currently becoming public at Salesforce will affect thousands of other companies in the coming years:

AI doesn't save business models. It develops new ones. However, these do not fit in with existing products and processes.

We are experiencing the next wave of digitalisation. But this time, the window of opportunity is not 20 years. It's 5 at most, and that also applies to Google, Apple and Amazon.

Surprisingly, Microsoft seems to have understood best how the business is being reorganised at full speed. However, it is far from clear whether the investments will pay off or whether they will be replaced by more innovative models sooner or later.

I would rather bet on Open AI than on GAFAs.
