Highlights
Being a CEO can often feel like a solitary journey.
Who do you turn to when you need advice, or simply someone who understands the weight of your role?
As a Vistage Worldwide, Inc. Master Chair, I’ve seen the incredible impact a strong support network can have on leaders.
Here’s how to build a network that truly understands your journey:
🤝 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: A mentor who has navigated similar challenges can provide invaluable guidance. Additionally, being part of a Vistage group can connect you with peers who truly understand your journey.
🏢 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝘀: These groups are designed to offer diverse perspectives and honest feedback, creating a support system that goes beyond the typical network.
💬 𝗙𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀: It’s not just about professional connections; sometimes, you need someone who understands you on a personal level.
How do you combat the isolation of leadership?
Let’s share our strategies and support each other.
Are you tired of not getting the results you’ve been working so hard for?
As CEOs, it's easy to get stuck in familiar patterns, expecting different outcomes. But what if the key isn't working harder, but thinking differently?
In my work as a Vistage Worldwide, Inc. Chair, I’ve seen firsthand the power of fresh perspectives. Here are a few strategies that have helped many leaders break through:
🔍 Seek Unbiased Feedback: Engage with people outside your immediate circle. A fellow CEO in a different industry, for example, might offer insights that your team hasn’t considered.
💡 Challenge Core Assumptions: I often encourage my Vistage group members to question their most fundamental beliefs about their businesses. What if one of those beliefs was holding you back?
📊 Pilot New Approaches: Don’t overhaul everything at once. Choose a specific area to experiment with a new tactic, measure the impact, and iterate.
What’s a perspective or strategy that helped you overcome a challenge? Share it in the comments. Let's learn from each other’s experiences.
