We are living through unprecedented times, coronavirus is impacting every single one of us, and how we treat our friends, colleagues and customers will be remembered for a very long time. Today alone I have received emails from M&S explaining how they are supporting increased grocery demand, from Screwfix explaining how to keep the country moving whilst minimising in-store contact time, from my local wine shop offering free doorstep deliveries, and from a villa rental company offering free villas to those working in the front line.

Like many others I have cancelled my upcoming overseas travel plans. The airline, my accommodation provider and my car rental company all appreciate that the situation is unprecedented, waived all of their normal policies, and offered no-questions-asked, penalty-free cancellations. Manchester Airport is a different matter. Want to cancel your parking? That will be £7.50 cancellation fee please. Surely not? I emailed them to check, are you sure this is still your policy? Answer: “Regrettably, where insurance hasn't been purchased, in line with our terms and conditions of booking, we are unable to refund the booking cancellation fee.”

To be clear, I couldn’t care less about the £7.50. But come on guys, #Manchester expects better. Charlie Cornish

I often go “down a rabbit hole” with Ted Talks, and occasionally watch one I need to share. It has had almost 4 million hits but should be compulsory viewing for anyone in business, in politics, or who is simply a member of the humans race.
