Highlights
This article might be about running, but you can apply it even if you're NOT a runner!
Where?
Let me see...
Dieting, exercising, business, programming, cooking, painting, sewing, creating, drawing, making music, dating, selling...
The list goes on and on.
Start slow and develop your skills. Build a strong foundation and work on your form. Master the basics and if you've got to screw up and fall down (you will) do it walking before you do it sprinting.
Once you have a solid base, then you can speed up and take off!
Abraham Lincoln understood this principle well.
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” -Abraham Lincoln
So don't try to compete with someone that has 10 years of experience on you. Compete with yourself from yesterday.
When you get going, then you can take on those people with decades of experience and win! (Or at least impress them and gain their respect)

There are like 20,000 diets out there.
How do you pick the one that will work for you? This guide is pretty comprehensive, but it's a long read.
The long and short of it is, it has to be simple and compatible with your life as it is.
If your life has to change or your diet has to change, your diet will be the first thing to go.
So don't try to fit your life around your diet.
Fit your diet to your life and take things one step at a time and you'll see results.
P.S. Don't major in the minors. In other words, if you're eating too many calories and not sleeping, don't think that calorie partitioning, anabolic windows, "magic foods" and a crash diet will make up for that. Especially long term.
