Before taking on this role, she was a consultant to Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and the renowned FC Barcelona. One of her key initiatives was assessing the feasibility of establishing a professional women's soccer team named FC Barcelona LA in the National Women's Soccer League.

With an impressive background, Marla previously served as the Vice President and Executive Director of the LA24/28 Olympic Bid Committee. Marla's professional journey began as an Associate Attorney at Latham & Watkins, showcasing her legal expertise in the corporate world.
