It’s Friday afternoon in Sydney and I haven’t posted in almost 4 years so…
When Simon Hedt first approached me a couple of months ago for the position at Slalom introducing it as „a modern consulting firm that puts people first” - I won’t lie, I was skeptical… “We want you to love your work and your life”, he said during our first call. „Everyone says that…”, I thought, but for very few (and by very few, I mean very few) it’s a truly lived experience.
But then Simon kept me in a loop throughout the process (all in a timely manner), and through his actions proved honesty. I ended up having some amazing conversations which added up to the best candidate experience ever, so two weeks of chats later I accepted the offer and…
On my first day I got hugs from colleagues, met heaps of very smart and driven (yet humble!) people and experienced professional services done differently - in a human way. I encountered tears of sensitivity in senior leadership, honesty, empathy, kindness in colleagues while delivering on outcomes in the best way possible and solving problems together. And above all - we all have fun together!
Of course, nothing is only unicorns and rainbows but Slalom is one of the most authentic and “human” places I’ve had a pleasure to be a part of. For the first time in a long time I feel I can be my authentic self in a workplace and say what I think (respectfully and fit-for-audiences ;)).
So yes, at the moment, I do love both my work and my life 🌈🦄 Thank you for having me!
