Highlights
A bit of a different message than what I would normally share on LinkedIn.
As many of you know I discovered one of my passions several years ago, which is painting impressionist landscapes. I am proud to announce that on the 11th of January I will be joining my first group exhibition! Together with 8 other artist from the A'DAM&Co Art Club we will exhibit some of our work. For me this is quite a big moment as it will be the first time I will be officially exhibiting my paintings.
Creating art already has a very special place in my heart. If you are interested in following my journey or want to see more of my paintings - I regularly share these on my instagram page: https://lnkd.in/es7vN9Mf
Deltares is currently visiting the 11th Global Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Humanitarian Action, where humanitarian actors such as the Red Cross and UN agencies are looking into distributing aid before a disaster strikes. As Deltares we are contributing from our experience developing Early Warning Systems in over 40 countries, which can be used to better inform organizations when and with what impact a disaster such as a flood or drought will happen. One example will be presented by our partner 510 - An Initiative of the Netherlands Red Cross on using reservoir information from the Global Water Watch to better understand the risk of droughts and earlier distribute aid.
Apart from this there have been interesting discussions with partner organizations on the #EW4All initiative, an ambitious goal by the UN Secretary to protect everyone in the world by early warning systems. One observation is to better collaborate with actors across all sectors (public/ private/ government/ NGO) to make this ambitious goal a reality. One step to bridge this gap is by sharing knowledge and best-practices which we, as a research institute, could contribute to.
