Tim Heyl of Homeward spoke on the Context podcast with Mike DelPrete recently. https://lnkd.in/eZNYAMA2
He totally nailed the reason we LOVE estate agents at Kyero.com. It's also the reason we choose not to work directly with private sellers in Europe.
Tim: "There's a lack of appreciation for the work that a real estate agent does. Most people think their job is to find a buyer a house, or to somehow market their listing. The reality is that they bring the most value to a transaction in negotiations and helping navigate the transaction itself."
If that's true in the domestic US real estate market where Homeward operates, think how much more applicable it is to the international buyer market where Kyero operates.
In the early stages of looking for a home in another country, a buyer typically starts with a property search - just like they would do in their home country. Most quickly realise that what they're actually searching for is a trusted agent to hold their hand throughout the entire journey.
An estate agent's commission can seem like a big number - and it's easy to point at it and see it as a cost to be minimised. In reality, a good agent will more than earn that commission - and both buyer and seller will be happy to pay it.
AI promises / threatens to disrupt every real estate market in ways yet unclear. However, I think the very last thing it will be able to replace is the humanity and nuance that a real estate agent brings to a high-emotion high-value transaction between two other human beings.
