Medallion Mesh - a new hype/buzzword? I have recently came across few articles promoting this, and realized this is actually very similar what we have been doing in our architecture design practice for some time. First, what it is? It is inspired by concepts like Medallion Architecture, Data Mesh, data modeling, and data processes for ML and AI. I think the idea is to basically merge the medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) and the concept of data products from Data Mesh in order to deliver architecture that separates data stages and allows to dedicate rights but also the responsibilities to the teams by defining a specific data products with all of the jazz associated (like specs, sla, etc.)

Despite the fact all current articles do use specific technologies to define the architecture blueprint (Atm its mostly Databricks who push this), I think it could be abstracted into something universally adaptable to different solutions. At Keboola we call it a horizontal and vertical separation of "projects", which can be technically understood as Mesh's "quantums" which govern people's rights, responsibilities, data and data processes within a single environment, that interfaces with other projects via data products.

I think I will try to put on a paper a bit about our common practice how we deploy enterprise blueprints if there is an interest. Tagging folks from the community if this is a topic have sparked their interest: Benjamin Rogojan Ethan Aaron Joe Reis 🤓 Brian Greene Animesh Kumar Timo Dechau Scott Hirleman Seattle Data Guy

  • Out of Memory issues
  • Data Lake issues despite of recent marketing push and other issues.

Insta-subscribe, looks like there is a lot of reading with details and interesting stuff. Also a reminder to not take the shouting of data influencers as a solid info and always honor people who actually try that stuff with a grain of salt and rolled sleeves. 👏 Note: Also check the comments for additional info.
