Martin Mueller is a distinguished figure in the jazz and contemporary music education scene, having served as the former Dean of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. With a career spanning 36 years, he has been deeply involved in jazz education through various platforms such as higher education, concerts, seminars, and educational programs across the United States and in over 24 countries. As a founding member of the International Association of Schools of Jazz, Mr. Mueller has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of jazz education globally. His contributions include leading a groundbreaking study of jazz artists initiated by the National Endowment for the Arts and receiving prestigious awards like the 2002 Downbeat magazine Achievement Award for Jazz Education and the 2005 'A Team' award from the Jazz Journalists Association. Currently, Mr. Mueller serves on the Governing Board of the International Association of Schools of Jazz and has been actively involved in advisory roles for organizations such as International Women in Jazz, Jazz Commission for Saint Peters church, and WBGO.
