Mary Robinette Kowal, born on February 8, 1969, in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a distinguished American author, translator, art director, and professional puppeteer. She is best known for her work in the fantasy genre, particularly her debut novel Shades of Milk and Honey, published by Macmillan in 2010. This novel is the first in her Glamourist Histories series, which blends elements of fantasy with themes reminiscent of Jane Austen's works.134
