Highlights
Professionally, stepping out of your comfort zone can be challenging, whether it involves pivoting across industries or making a shift from part-time passion projects to full-time entrepreneurial work. I want to express my appreciation for all the local networking, planning, and vendor meet-up's I attended this past summer. The collection of business cards I've amassed is a testament to these valuable connections. I'm deeply thankful for the individuals who dedicated their time to hear our story.
For those of you who have corresponded with me directly or met me at a local networking event, you might be surprised to learn that I, Mary Louise, am an ardent introvert. This quality has been a constant in my life and always will be. I'm grateful for that personality trait even though it can be a bit enigmatic. In the marketing and advertising world, there’s often an emphasis on presenting oneself in an extroverted manner to establish credibility and trust. On the other side, I’m grateful design work often conveys the message more effectively than loud, flashy presentations ever could. I’ve found solace in the knowledge that my strategic brand management and creative direction can tell a compelling story, even when I’m not immediately ready to vocalize it.
Numerous years ago, my perspective on introversion was transformed after reading the book “Quiet: In a World That Can't Stop Talking” by Susan Cain. I came to terms with the idea that my introversion can take the lead in conversations, both in the conference room and within my singular design practice. Additionally, the process of teaching, reviewing, or presenting at various universities and high schools (@https://lnkd.in/eRuTvgVr @loyola_design @saicpics @satcenter.tdt @xula1925), refining one's voice in the presence of trusted mentors, nurturing long-term client relationships, and putting in years of trial and error has further reinforced my self-awareness. Regardless of the room you enter, it’s essential to recognize that there's always someone with a quiet world full of insightful perspectives, untapped ideas, and established credibility, ready to engage.
The same principle applies to brands — we encourage you to come as you are. At Quercus, we’re here to embrace start-up's and historic brands, utilizing strategic brand management and problem-solving to help partners achieve their outward-facing goals.
