Highlights
On Tuesday, July 9th FirstGen is hosting Part II of Our Visa Options for Immigrant Founders to unpack the O-1/EB-1 visas.
We have chosen to focus on the O-1/EB-1 visa in part because of its higher rate of success and applicability for founders or soon-to-be founders. The so-called, 'Genius visa' is much more attainable than it appears, but it requires being smart about how you position yourself.
If you know a founder that is thinking through visa options or someone that is thinking about starting a company but is unsure due to their visa, please tag them!
Very excited to co-host this with Tori. Hanson at The Knowledge Shop and Paulina Szegda at Forum Ventures. Thank you to Jonathan Grode for leading the workshop!

On Tuesday, FirstGen hosted a conversation about the Complex Relationship to Money that many immigrant and first generation founders, professionals and investors have.
We had the chance to discuss mindsets and challenges that impact the FirstGen community and the practical ways to overcome and break down those limiting mindsets.
We talked about:
- The cost of feeling like we owe our parents
- The perils of perfectionism and feeling the need to over-prove
- The scarcity mindset vs abundance mindset
- The impact humble beginnings on decision-making and risk-taking
Thank you to our panelists Lei Bely-Cheng 成蕾 David Tswamuno Ray Fu and Evelysse Vargas for such a genuine and vulnerable conversation. And to those who showed up to take part in this conversation. Until next one!
Thank you to Sherveen Mashayekhi, Free Agency and Acronym Venture Capital for supporting this event
