📕 Book Recommendation: "The Neurodiversity Edge". As many of you know Neurodiversity is a topic that is very personal and important to me. I really enjoyed Maureen N. Dunne, Ph.D. combination of the "what", "why" and "how" that offered practical guidance for companies to transcend from good intentions to a practice of creating workplaces where Neurodiverse talent can thrive. It brought up important topics including universal design and hybrid/remote work options.

My favorite part was summarized in the conclusion, reflecting on the AI revolution that is being thrusted upon us, and the fact that popular GenAI is really a mashup of existing human experiences (mostly represented by Neurotypical). There will be increased need for different thinking and the humans capable of doing it. They will help companies with innovation which delight their customers.

"Imagine ..a system being trained on barogue music in the early 18th century--on Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Purcell and Corelli. Such a system would no doubt astonish us with seemingly orginal concertos indistunguishable from other notable pieces of the period in complexity, orginality, and quality.

But it would never give us the Moonlight Sonata."

When I read this I literally exclaimed "YES!" out loud 🙌🏻

I am proud to see the Skills Based Hiring Program featured today. This program brings us closer in achieving our mission of hiring diverse builders from all backgrounds to be the future leaders of AWS. Kudos to Janene Lopez-Fairfield and Jeff Barlow for all their sweat equity on launching this program. I love the quote from my friend Anastasia Penright:

"Our initiative isn't about excluding those with four-year degrees; it's about embracing a broader spectrum of talent. Expanding beyond conventional pathways allows us to tap into nontraditional talent pools and provide opportunities to underrepresented communities. Ultimately, our goal is to identify and nurture potential, regardless of traditional qualifications, and foster an environment where all employees can thrive."
