Matt Chitharanjan

Matt Chitharanjan is the Co-Founder and CEO of Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters, a specialty coffee brand in India.13 He started the company in 2013 with his partner Namrata Asthana when they moved to Delhi from Chennai and noticed a lack of freshly roasted, high-quality Arabica coffee.2

Born and raised in the United States, Chitharanjan developed a passion for coffee from a young age.2 He moved to India in 2011 to work at the Institute for Financial Management and Research in Chennai on SME financing projects.5 Prior to founding Blue Tokai, he worked as a real estate and finance consultant in San Francisco, where he was exposed to the burgeoning specialty coffee movement.15

Under Chitharanjan's leadership, Blue Tokai has grown significantly:
