Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, Matt began his professional journey by completing two Registered Apprenticeships at the age of 16. This foundational experience instilled in him a deep appreciation for hands-on learning and skill development. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business from the University of Hamburg, graduating Magna cum laude. After moving to the United States in 1995, he took on roles that leveraged his educational background and technical training.

At SEA-LECT Plastics, Matt has played a pivotal role in operational management, particularly during significant company transitions such as acquisitions. He is credited with developing a pioneering Plastics Process Technician Apprenticeship program that aims to bridge the gap between education and industry needs. His leadership extends beyond SEA-LECT; he has been an advisor for AJAC Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeships since 2013, influencing apprenticeship education across Washington state.
