Earlier this year we released a show titled “Why Is Job Ghosting on the Rise?” It was about rogue recruiters ghosting job candidates. That show triggered a lot of buzz and discussion online. So much so, that less than one month later in May, the career services company ResumeBuilder.com ran a survey of over 1,600 hiring managers. Here’s the thing. Their survey went one step further than our job candidate ghosting story, asking hiring managers about the practice of posting fake job listings!
Some findings from that survey:
40% of companies posted a fake job listing this year 3 in 10 companies currently have active fake listings “Alleviating employee workload” perception and “promoting their company's growth” were top reasons behind the fake job posting strategy
And here’s the kicker: 7 in 10 of the hiring managers believed posting fake jobs is morally acceptable
