This new academic year starts with me changing hats at HEC Paris. Stepping down from the co-chair of the school's Diversity Committee with Marcelle Laliberté, Dr. (thanks Marcelle for these three wonderful years!), I will take over as co-chair of the Law & Tax Department, in tandem with my colleague David Restrepo Amariles. A big THANK YOU goes to my colleagues in the department for their support (Alberto, Arnaud, Nicole, Marie, Pablo, Michael, Mirko) and last year's chair Armin Steinbach. We are not a big department but our talent in research and teaching is great! I look forward to working with our dean Andrea Masini and continue guiding our PhD students Marie-Christin Manke and Justin Maffett, and those who will arrive soon. You can all count on us.

“So the IOC played by the rules: Khelif was born a woman, has always (been) identified as a woman and neither her physical appearance nor her chromosomes make her a man, a trans, a threat to society, or a danger to others. Unless one thinks that being a strong woman makes you an outsider.

This view would be legitimate only in a world that sees women as weak, inferior, and rightly submitted to men. It’s the world in which Right-wing populists dream of becoming leaders. It’s the world where those who play by the rules like Khelif get thrown into the shitstorm while those who lie get political power.

It’s their world, not ours.”
