Matthew Beasley is a seasoned optical instrument designer with an extensive background in creating ultraviolet instruments for scientific missions, including 5 NASA sounding rocket projects.

With a Ph.D. in Astrophysical, Planetary, and Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder and a B.S. in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Matthew combines academic knowledge with practical expertise.

Matthew Beasley has a proven track record in leading research teams, managing the full instrument design process, and delivering high-quality optical systems within budget constraints.

He has designed and built a variety of optical instruments, such as ultraviolet imaging telescopes, spectrographs, guiding systems for rockets, echelle spectrographs, and optical star trackers for space applications.

In addition to his optical design skills, he has experience in leading citizen science projects, participating in algorithm challenges with NASA and TopCoder, and teaching classes at the University of Colorado.

Currently serving as the Senior Research and Development Program Manager at Southwest Research Institute, Matthew Beasley has previously held key roles at organizations like Planetary Resources, Inc., Arizona State University, and the University of Colorado at Boulder.
