Matthew has extensive fieldwork experience in challenging settings, having worked in countries such as Afghanistan, DR Congo, Ghana, Haiti, Liberia, Nicaragua, Sierra Leone, Syria, and Yemen. He holds a Masters in International Relations and International Economics from The Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from The Catholic University of America.

He has served as the Chief Executive Officer and Board Director at Sèvis Finansye Fonkoze and also held the role of Chief Financial Officer at the same organization. Matthew also had advisory roles at Opportunity International and was the Chief Operating Officer at Opportunity International Development Foundation. He started his career as a Microfinance Analyst at CGAP/World Bank Group and gained experience in the legal field as a Paralegal at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
