Matthew Clayton

Co-Founder, Mixcloud

Matthew Clayton is the Co-Founder and CTO of Mixcloud, a company he founded in 2008.1 He is responsible for heading up the technical development of the site and shares CEO duties with his co-founders.2

Clayton has a strong technical background, specializing in Python, Django, MySQL, PIC Controllers, and Embedded C/C++.1 Before founding Mixcloud, he worked on various systems and control projects, including biometric monitoring for Electronic Arts and Zigbee-based wireless data capture systems for the oil industry.2

He holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree from the University of Cambridge, where he studied from 2002 to 2006.1 During his time at university, he also completed a summer internship at Electronic Arts in 2005.1

In addition to his work at Mixcloud, Clayton has developed successful Facebook applications, including Sponsor Me and Become Rambo, which was awarded the best Viral Application by the Facebook Developer Garage London.2 Outside of work, he enjoys playing squash, rock climbing, and motor biking.2
