This Chalkbeat article by Kalyn Belsha shares the latest data from Kristen Huff and team. A key takeaway: our youngest learners need as much support as we can offer to bolster foundational skills, particularly in math.

The Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Program has designed two resources for parents and caregivers to support early learners' math and reading at home.

The first, Teaching Math to Young Children, provides practical guidance and strategies to engage children in math learning activities at home. Find it here: https://lnkd.in/eiK7dkfH

The second, Supporting your Child's Reading at Home, offers tips and suggestions to foster a love for reading and support literacy development in children. Find it here: https://lnkd.in/ebH-_-Yr

From Seedlings to Scale (S2S), IES’s newest transformational research grant program, launched today! Read all about it at: https://lnkd.in/ea2YpXKr

S2S is part of the Accelerate, Transform, Scale Portfolio at our National Center for Education Research. In this first phase, S2S seeks to identify innovative policies, practices, or programs that educators and communities feel could be compelling solutions to pressing problems of education. In a subsequent phase, select seedlings grow to become rigorously evaluated solutions, supported by a systematic and high-quality process of research and development designed to maximize usability, feasibility, and impact. Our end goal? Transformational solutions at scale that are rooted in the learning sciences, powered by the enthusiasm of school communities, and dramatically improving outcomes for students every day.

We won’t get there without you! Please share this announcement, so expertly crafted by many at the Institute of Education Sciences including Elizabeth Albro, PhD, Erin Higgins, Alex Resch, and Katherine McEldoon, PhD, with your networks.
