#PatientAdvocacy work by industry can no longer be a “nice to have.” Industry has an obligation to lobby on behalf of patients to gain access to the critical products they need in conjunction with their doctors.

In light of the Supreme Court's recent decision overturning the Chevron deference, it's crucial for the healthcare sector to rethink its advocacy strategies. With the judicial branch now taking a more active role in interpreting the law, pharma and biotech companies must step up their policy work. This is not a time to pull back but to provide Congress with clear, precise language to protect essential programs like 340B and to ensure that patient care remains fair and timely. Now more than ever, we need robust advocacy to drive meaningful change in our healthcare system.

This is the problem with the PatientView report. The value of #patientadvocacy in industry must get beyond the funding when evaluating impact and PatientView does not.

Rare disease this past year was owned exclusively by Eric Racine, PharmD, MBA and the team at Sanofi due to their programmatic support, policy support, relationships, social determinants of health work (#SDOH) and more!

#Advocacy is extremely important in industry and must be measured accurately to emphasize the impact these teams can have. We must get beyond the money 💰

This feedback from an advocate says it all for Sanofi’s work: “Sanofi's rare disease team is very pro-active in seeking out opportunities to collaborate with our organization to develop educational materials and support our efforts in supporting families.”

Congrats to Takeda (Deena Andreola), BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., UCB, Chiesi USA, Inc., & Ultragenyx to round out the top 5 in rare disease.
