We started Photoroom out of frustration.

Excited that selling products online depended so much on images… but so frustrated creating great ones was still slow, expensive, and way too complex.

Back in 2019, it felt broken. If visuals are what make people buy, why was it so hard to get them right?

That question led Eliot and me to start Photoroom. Using AI to make it more accessible. We didn’t set out to become experts in product visuals. We set out to fix a problem.

With Photoroom, it's about helping businesses sell and grow.

Because in e-commerce, people don’t buy products. They buy pictures.

Today, millions of businesses use Photoroom to create visuals that are fast, accurate, and built to convert. What used to take days and thousands of dollars now happens in seconds.

We believe every business should be able to sell at first sight. From side hustlers to global brands, great visuals should be accessible to anyone who wants to build something.

This video is more personal. It’s the story of how it all started, and why we’re still obsessed with this problem.

Last week, Juliette, Sumedha, and I were interviewed for French National TV but there was a twist. 📹

We’d prepared a full demo of Photoroom in English as is everything at the office, but France wasn’t quite ready for it 😅. So Juliette jumped in at the last minute to do the demo in French, and absolutely nailed it.

However, as pointed out in the video, we serve global customers like Amazon, Decathlon, and thousands more across 180 countries. To build for the world, we need to attract talent from all over the world: our team represents 20+ nationalities, and French is actually forbidden in the office 🇫🇷🚫.

  • If you want to lead globally, English must be your working language.

  • If you want to hire from everywhere, you need to make people from everywhere feel at home.

Paris is more international than most people think, visas are straightforward, and a lot of people would say yes to living 4y here. The key is creating a place where people feel welcome, empowered, and part of something bold.
