The name we came up with for Milk's groundbreaking women's Fortnite tournament, The Milk Cup, turned out to be more controversial than we anticipated. Truthfully the pun I had in mind was tournament cup + drinking cup. How simple and innocent.
I was surprised to see folks immediately critique and crack jokes about women and milk. It reminds me of when my friends and I used to make crude jokes about the Celtics arena being called TD Garden... back in the late 90s.
We put our name on our event for attribution, it is marketing after all. Most marketing, however, doesn't transform opportunity for overlooked communities and set viewership records (we have!)
Proud of our work MilkPEP x GALE x Moonrock x Raidiant x eFuse x Whalar - see you at LA Comic Con for our in-person finals. And huge shoutout to Yin Woon Rani for her performance in this spot.

A vote for this #SXSW panel would mean a lot to me. I am honored to be nominated along with MilkPEP CEO Yin Woon Rani and our incredible partner Peach.
We've had close to a thousand women sign up for our groundbreaking women's Fortnite tournament, The Milk Cup, with over 2.5M views on our three qualifiers and we're not done yet. We're flying 99 women out to LA this October for our LAN finals and LA Comic Con where the winners will take home the lion's share of our $250K prize pool.
I can't wait for that event, and I'd love join these two incredible women in Austin this spring to share more about this successful and rewarding initiative.
