Over a decade ago I was new to Silicon Valley. One person above all others truly believed in a crazy vision I had at the time, and wrote one of the first checks- definitely not the last- for what would become a life defining journey of team, technology, and company building. It’s unclear how far I would have gotten without his belief in me.
That ability and willingness to bet on people, coach directly yet thoughtfully, and to constructively be there in the best of times and in the worst of times, that’s Kevin. Many entrepreneurs joke that it can be hard to tell who the ‘good guys’ are in this business. Kevin Patrick Mahaffey is definitely one of the good guys. I like to think that he is helping to lay the foundation for what good early stage venture looks like for a rising generation of investors and founders.

It may seem surprising to some that being a good actor in this business can get such warm recognition. The reality is that a founder doesn’t know who they've married until the going gets tough. Only so many operators and investors have actually proven that they can weather the storm and do no harm.
