Closing the chapter on an incredibly eventful month of October, I had the distinct honor of serving as a pacer at the renowned Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. This event, had over 35,000 participants, showcasing the most stunning facets of Delhi. It's a movement that not only ignites the spirits of people globally but also puts India on the world map. In 2016,it welcomed the legendary Kipchoge who completed the half marathon in astoundingly 59 minutes and 44 seconds, shortly after his Olympic triumph in Rio De Janeiro.
My journey through running has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride, marked by triumphant highs and occasional setbacks. Yet, despite facing injuries, I've managed to maintain consistency over the years with the right treatment and necessary rest. Running has taught me humility, kept me grounded and, more significantly, equipped me to confront the mental challenges that often overshadow the physical ones.
This event held a special place in my heart as I was entrusted with the role of pacing the 10-kilometer run within 70 minutes. Guiding and motivating the enthusiastic runners and maintaining precision timing for every kilometer , striving to help them achieve their running goals was an absolute thrill. The experience began in the dark at 5:20 AM but as we approached India Gate, the rising sun mirrored the soaring spirits of the runners. The sight of completing 5 kilometers amidst the picturesque backdrop of India Delhi was truly exhilarating!
The most rewarding moment was encouraging the runners in the final kilometer to push beyond their limits and cross the finish line ahead of their set target. The infectious energy, resounding cheers, beaming smiles, overwhelming pride, and collective high-fives created an atmosphere that words fail to capture.
The event offered a great opportunity to meet and interact with the humble Ashton Keaton, a two-time Olympic champion in Decathlon, and the dynamic captain of the Indian women’s Cricket team, Hamanpreet Kaur! Precious memories!
These moments are etched for a lifetime, and the meticulous care provided by the organizing team made this an extraordinarily enriching experience.
The heart is brimming over with happiness and gratitude for the immense trust placed in me by Procam International Private Limited for this monumental responsibility. Thank you, team, take a bow for a spectacular event!
