McGee Young is the Founder and CEO of WattCarbon, a company that is building an energy transition marketplace focused on the built environment.123 WattCarbon integrates real-time grid carbon intensity data with energy data from buildings, devices, and production units to quantify carbon emission reductions.2 WattCarbon helps organizations meet net-zero commitments by funding building decarbonization projects.24

Prior to founding WattCarbon in July 2021, McGee Young was the CTO at Recurve from May 2019 to March 2021.5 Earlier in his career, he was an Associate Professor at Marquette University from 2004 to 2015.5 He earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Syracuse University.15 McGee currently sits on the Board of Directors at LF Energy as an elected representative.1 He also led the development of CalTRACK and oversaw the submission of the OpenEEmeter project to LF Energy.1 More recently, McGee organized the Carbon Data Specification Consortium.1
