Bangladesh is a country with a rapidly growing population and a young workforce. However, not everyone in Bangladesh has access to the same opportunities. Deprived communities are often left behind, and they can be disproportionately affected by poverty, unemployment, and lack of access to education and healthcare. Technology can be a powerful tool for bringing deprived communities into the mainstream. It can provide access to information, education, and employment opportunities. It can also help to improve healthcare and communication. However, for deprived communities to benefit from technology, they need access to the internet, training in digital skills, and relevant content. Ways to bring deprived communities to build a tech-friendly smart Bangladesh:
- Provide affordable access to the internet. This is essential for people to be able to participate in the digital economy. The government can do this by providing subsidies for internet access, or by building more public Wi-Fi hotspots.
- Train people in digital skills. This will help people to use technology to improve their lives. The government can provide training through schools, community centers, or online platforms.
- Create digital content that is relevant to deprived communities. This will help people to see the benefits of technology and to want to use it. The government can create content in local languages, or it can partner with businesses and organizations that are already creating relevant content.
- Encourage the use of technology in government services. This will make it easier for people to access government services, and it will also help to build trust in technology. The government can start by digitizing its services, and then it can work to make them more user-friendly.
- Support the development of tech businesses in deprived communities. This will create jobs and opportunities for people in these communities. The government can provide grants, loans, or other forms of support to tech businesses.
- Partner with local organizations. There are many organizations that are already working in deprived communities. The government can partner with these organizations to provide access to the internet, train people in digital skills, and create relevant content.
- Use technology to address specific challenges. For example, the government can use technology to provide education, healthcare, or financial services to people in deprived communities. Team #bdapps is trying to add value to each of these pillars along with the key stakeholders from Government and Private Sectors. We strongly believe the digital inclusion of 100% population can revolutionize Bangladesh’s socio-economic landscape in the Future.
