Screenwriter journey, Part 2: If you know anything about me, you know I'm always looking for ways to uplift underrepresented folks. So it wasn't enough just to start screenwriting, I also built a global community of women and nonbinary emerging screenwriters 40ish & ⬆.

It all started in a virtual "booth" sponsored by The Writers Lab at the ScreenCraft Summit in 2022. A few of us talked about how we wanted more of everything - community, resources, and opportunity. So I started collecting email addresses, maybe 30 that day.

Fast forward to now. We have about 460 members on 5 continents. At the end of last year, I decided to collect a little data about our accomplishments so we could start taking up a little more space. Of the 150 folks surveyed: ⭐ we completed 𝟑𝟕𝟒 scripts ⭐ we placed in 𝟑𝟕𝟔 contests and 𝟒𝟗 of us were winners or finalists. ⭐ 𝟑𝟗 of us were paid to write ⭐ 𝟑𝟑 of us had our work produced ⭐ 𝟐𝟏 of us had our produced work place in festivals ⭐ 𝟏𝟎𝟓 of us contributed money or time to the strikes. This is particularly impressive given many of us were affected by mass layoffs and work stoppages and 𝟏𝟐% do not live in the US and may never be part of the WGA.

Over the weekend, 80 or so of us celebrated virtually and started strategizing for 2024. Thank you to the donors of our raffle prizes, listed in the comments.

Founding and scaling this grassroots community allows me to practice what I preach about embedding #inclusivity and #PsychologicalSafety into everything we do.

I believe we don't stop being valuable when we hit middle age. In fact, our life experiences make us INvaluable. Are you coming into your life's midpoint and wanting more? More creativity? More expression? More joy? More [insert not safe for work]? This is my favorite kind of person to coach; hit me up.

I won't rest until you see more of our stories on your big and small screen. You haven't heard the last of us. Bet. 🚀
