How to be a good conversationalist: go exploring.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when clients are more worried about "managing the meeting" — and making everyone on their team feel good — than about actually hearing the truths that we've found in any given research project.

We're not supposed to talk about this ugly decade of politics we've all been muddling through. We're not supposed to talk about the crippling anxiety & depression that have become the norm for most. We're not supposed to talk about racism, sexism, classism, ableism or ageism. We're not supposed to talk about how many consumers are really, really struggling economically right now - because our goal is to sell more shit to them.

There's a massive pushback against anyone feeling uncomfortable - and it leads to boring, watered-down work & products ... that aren't anchored in reality.

We're doing some new work on why it's so imperative to let yourself feel the messy, hard friction of being a human today, and it'll be out this fall. Shoot me a message if you're interested in setting up a presentation: [email protected]
