Meiyi Bao

Assistant Professor, Fellow and Coordinator at University College Utrecht

Meiyi Bao is an accomplished academic with expertise in Chinese Pedagogy, Linguistics, and Chinese Culture.

She holds a Ph.D. in Chinese Linguistics from the University of Mainz, a Master's Degree in Lerarenopleiding Chinees from ICLON at Leiden University, and a Master's degree in Linguistics from the University of Utrecht.

Meiyi Bao also completed her Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language at Zhejiang University and pursued studies in School Administration, Chinese Pedagogy, and Chinese Culture at Shandong Normal University.

With a strong educational background, she has held various teaching and coordination roles, including serving as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of China Studies at University College Utrecht.

Throughout her career, Meiyi Bao has been involved in language teaching at different levels, from being a Chinese Language Teacher at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP to a Language Expert at Utrecht University and Utrecht School of the Arts.

She has also worked as an Interpreter at prestigious events like the World e-Sports Games Masters and as a Freelance Translator for Ferro Explore.

Meiyi Bao's dedication to promoting Chinese language and culture is evident through her roles as a former Docent Chinees at Het Amsterdams Lyceum, Lecturer at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, and Chinese Language Teacher & Coordinator at Chinees Onderwijscentrum Nederland (CON), among others.

Her passion for education and language has led her to contribute to various institutions and organizations, including Chinese Learning App Design and Chinese College Nederland.

Meiyi Bao's expertise extends to Business Chinese Language teaching, as seen in her previous role as a Business Chinese Language Teacher at TenICT.
