Friday seems like a great day to share that I’m wrapping up the first week of my new job. YUP, you read that right! This week I started my new career as a Consumer Insight Senior Analyst with… The Walt Disney Company!   As you can imagine, I am thrilled! Not only do I get to move back to Florida, but now I get to work for my favorite company in the world.

Having grown up near Disney World, and having been a College Programmer a whopping 18 years ago (oof!), the tickle to "go home" never went away. As I told my new leader, you can only show so many students the Disney Careers website before you start looking at (and daydreaming about) jobs yourself.

And in lieu of tagging a bunch of people (I feel a bit odd doing that), it's worth mentioning that this wouldn't have happened without the support and guidance of so many people -- including those who were willing to take a mere 30 minutes out of their day to provide insights, feedback, and guidance. Switching careers from higher education back to industry can be tough, but I had a team in my corner (and met awesome people at the company, including my new leader) that gave me confidence and courage to aim big.

So now, after years of WDW being my happy place, I get to join the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products arm to be one of the cast members creating happiness.

Pinch me.

Today has left me so, so tired. A small bright spot is Disney's response to what happened today.
