Highlights
Sharing with my network on behalf of my colleague Rotem Dolev. Her daughter, Ofri is just 6 years old and has been battling cancer since age 2.
After exhausting all the traditional treatments, Ofri has been given the opportunity to take part in a ground-breaking vaccine trial in Germany. Of course, the costs of such treatments are exorbitant so the family has launched a fundraising campaign.
Every donation, big or small, helps
There’s nothing quite like sifting through 7000 emails, am I right?
That was my reality when I opened my inbox this week for the first time after a 4-month sabbatical.
So how did it go? Well, the truth is, not as planned. I left Israel in September for what I thought would be 16 weeks of nonstop adventure, treks through the Himalayas, island hopping around Indonesia and road-tripping from one Windows screen saver to another in New Zealand. And while I did get to do those things, I did them with a heavy weight on my shoulders.
Just a few weeks into my trip, Israel was brutally and devastatingly attacked by Hamas, launching Israel into a war that I watched from afar. A war that shattered my world and sent my friends and family to bomb shelters constantly. A war I knew would forever change the place I would eventually come home to. Add to that a stint in a Nepalese hospital and a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Japan, it’s safe to say there wasn’t a dull moment in the past few months.
While I live for adventure, I’m also a creature of habit. Getting back into the swing of things this last week has been an adjustment but a relief at the same time.
Israel and Israelis are nothing if not resilient and I am proud to continue my work to support Israeli startups. Yes, there is trauma and an ongoing conflict, but even with that, we are ready to maintain normal operations and open applications for a new cycle of Deloitte Launchpad. Annnnd while I'm here, and if you're still reading, if you know great founders who could benefit from joining our Launchpad family, please send them my way (there's a link to apply in the comments).
In spite of everything, I owe so much to those who made this sabbatical possible. Thank you to my boss, Yair Laron, for supporting my growth and well-being both at the office and away from it; to my employer Deloitte for empowering me and affording me the opportunity for a (sort of) restful reset; and to my A-team Liron Winberg-Retzkin, Sivan Peleg, Maya Klein for holding down the fort in my absence.
It's good to be home. Praying for better days ahead.
