Melissa Korn is an award-winning higher education reporter at The Wall Street Journal, with a focus on the changing landscape of educational institutions and its impact on stakeholders like administrators, faculty, and students.

She covers a wide range of topics such as admissions trends, financial challenges faced by small private colleges, student affairs including campus protests and free speech debates, and intriguing college traditions.

Melissa co-authored the book UNACCEPTABLE: Privilege, Deceit & the Making of the College Admissions Scandal, a comprehensive look at the Varsity Blues scandal.

Her extensive newsroom experience includes reporting on corporate breaking news, alcohol, tobacco, and credit ratings agencies. She has also been involved in editing and mentoring junior reporters and interns.

Melissa Korn is a co-founder of the employee resource group Women@DJ and has a passion for breaking news stories and enjoying refreshing scoops of ice cream.

She pursued her BA in English and History from Cornell University, followed by an MS in Journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. Melissa also studied at the University of Oxford.

Throughout her career, Melissa has held various positions including Reporter at The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires, Copy Editor at Dow Jones Newswires, and internships at Financial Times and Fast Company Magazine.
