Merel Corduwener, born in 1991, is a Dutch illustrator who studied Illustration Design at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle, graduating in 2013. She specializes in editorial illustrations and has worked with prominent Dutch newspapers such as De Volkskrant, NRC, and Het Parool. Her work is characterized by its vibrant colors, humor, and focus on social themes like identity, sustainability, and nature. Corduwener often uses watercolor for her illustrations, which she finishes digitally.12

She is also the author of Polderpolonaise (2019), a book exploring Dutch identity through an illustrative journey across various aspects of Dutch life. Her work has been recognized internationally, including a nomination for the European Design Award in the category of Book & Editorial Illustration in 2017.12
