4 Ways Job Seekers Can Win on LinkedIn
Let’s talk about getting what YOU want in your next role. 9/10 people aren’t actually advocating for themselves in the most effective ways to get the job. They’re busy doing busy work that feels incredibly time consuming and typically leads to a high level of frustration because they don’t get the return on the time invested.
3 quick thoughts to help you WIN:
#1: Update your resume. Ensure it aligns as best as possible with the sort of position you’re interested in and make sure it has a summary statement near the top. Be sure to condense it to 1-page. It’ll only be looked at for about 6 seconds if it makes it to human eyes. How much can you read in 6 seconds? All you 2 and 3 page resume people, I promise you’ll be more effective with a 1-pager.
#2: Make a list of the 5 people in your network most likely to lead to your next job and schedule a short call with them. Ask them for 5 minutes. They’ll usually give you more time but start small. Let them know where you’re at, what you’re looking for, and I bet you’ll find they have suggestions that will help you.
#3: Work on how you’re telling your story. THIS is where most people fail and the networking call (or interview) effectively ends because your listener tunes you out. Everyone has great ingredients that can go into their story but you need to put them together in a way that establishes credibility and emotionally connects with your audience. Scroll to the bottom of the page linked below on my website for a video that gives you detailed instructions on how to craft your story in a way that will set you up for success. https://lnkd.in/gJQjgyT
You’re putting in the time, let’s make it work better for you!
