Michael Church

Programmer, data scientist, writer, and (failed) tamer of cats.

Michael Church is a highly experienced machine learning engineer and software architect based outside of Washington D.C. since September 2017.

He has authored a novel titled 'Farisa's Crossing,' set to be published sometime from October 2018 to November 2019.

With a diverse professional background, Michael Church has strategically chosen not to disclose his past employers or clients publicly, while having gained valuable experience at Google, various startups, a hedge fund, and a large company's research and development lab.

Possessing a decade of software engineering expertise, Michael specializes in functional programming and design, with hands-on experience in developing custom machine learning algorithms such as neural networks of different structures, regularized regression models in high-dimensional spaces, and genetic algorithms.

His proficiency extends to building real-time trading systems, advanced voting platforms, and simulations focused on addressing game theory challenges.

In addition to his technical talents, Michael Church has designed several games, such as the card game Ambition and various lotteries, showcasing his versatile skill set.

Michael's academic qualifications include a BA in Mathematics from Carleton College, along with additional studies in Mathematics at Budapest Semesters in Mathematics and the University of Wisconsin.

He is associated with Carleton College as one of his organizational affiliations.

Michael Church prioritizes technical superiority over methodologies like Scrum, as he believes in focusing on excellence and deems processes like 'user stories' as unnecessary hindrances in the realm of software development.
