Writing a book 📕 “Compassionate Leadership in a Compassionless Era” and heading up The Lewis Commission.
Michael Lewis is an entrepreneurial student at Arden University who has launched The Lewis Commission, an initiative focused on examining the current state of the UK's small business sector.2 He is in the process of writing a book on Compassionate Leadership while simultaneously heading up The Lewis Commission.3
As an active member of The Green Party, Lewis is involved in various social and political causes. Lewis appears to be passionate about small businesses and local commerce, often using hashtags like #shoplocal and #shopsmall in his social media posts.3 His work with The Lewis Commission seems to align with these interests, as it focuses on investigating and potentially improving conditions for small businesses in the UK.
Highlights
Hi everyone - I am looking for a new role and would appreciate your support. Thank you in advance for any connections, advice, or opportunities you can offer. #OpenToWork
While my health is slowly improving, I’ve decided to start looking for paid opportunities.
My particular interest is in delivering training, mentoring new managers / start-ups / students and in recruitment / CV writing.
Right now, due to my health, I am only looking for remote opportunities. Therefore, I can work with businesses in the UK or internationally. I work better later in the day, or through the night, so time zones are not a barrier.
If any of my connections have or are aware of any opportunities for remote, paid or freelance trainers, I’d appreciate a shout. Thank you 🙏🏻
My experience in delivering vocational training and qualifications has been varied, e.g., I have worked with a number of organisations delivering Management and Leadership training (accredited and non-accredited) and teaching / assessing qualifications at level 3 through to level 7, including Chartered Management Institute and ILM accredited qualifications.
I have set up and managed my own training academy, through Lewis Associates.
Additionally, I have delivered First Aid training, including Paediatric First Aid, Appointed Person and First Aid at Work courses. I am not physically able to deliver First Aid training these days, but the teaching and assessment skills I developed will remain with me forever.
I led the 2008-09 review of all First Aid training provided by a North East Lincolnshire training provider - reducing the four day First Aid at Work Qualification down to the new three day format.
Prior to the First Aid training, I delivered Functional Skills training in Adult Literacy and Numeracy up to level 1 and a vast range of Health and Social Care, Childcare, Children’s Social Care and Playwork training and qualifications.
I devised a paperless portfolio system based on the 2006-07 City & Guilds Playwork NVQ national occupational standards, and worked closely with other Playwork training providers to develop a quality assurance scheme for SkillsActive Code of Practice approved training providers.
My current interests are inclusion focused, such as widening partnership, gender equality, disability equality, anti racism, and LGBTIQA+ rights as well as management, leadership and entrepreneurial education.
This year, I have been instrumental in setting up Arden University’s Enterprise Clubs.
While I’m recovering from a serious illness, I have taken proactive steps to diversify, e.g., in August, I launched The Lewis Commission, which is currently collecting evidence from small, independent and family run businesses on the state of play in the UK’s small business sector.
I’ve been researching and have started writing a book Compassionate Leadership in a Compassionless Era.
And yesterday (1st of September, 2024), I relaunched the #VirtualJobsFair that I have facilitated through Phoenix Professional Development since 2019 over on Twitter X.
I would be grateful for any tips regarding work / opportunities.
Thank you 🙏🏻
