Michael Godoy, PhD

T32 Postdoctoral Fellow @ Rush University Medical Center | Biomechanics, Orthopaedics

Dr. Michael Godoy is a knowledgeable T32 Postdoctoral Fellow at Rush University Medical Center, specializing in finite element analysis (FEA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA) to research factors contributing to hip implant failures.

His primary focus involves collaborating with clinicians and engineers to study retrieved hip implants, construct computational models for simulating hip joint mechanics, and assess implant performance.

He has been actively involved in publishing his research outcomes in premier journals such as the Journal of Biomechanics and has made presentations at various prestigious conferences.

Dr. Godoy has a strong academic background, having completed his PhD in Integrated Biomedical Sciences at Rush University, under the mentorship of Dr. Hannah Lundberg in the Computational Biomechanics Laboratory.

Throughout his academic journey, he has been recognized with several accolades and scholarships including the SMDP MedTech Scholar and the IMSD Fellow.

His educational foundation includes a Bachelor's degree in bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he gained valuable research exposure in cardiovascular biomechanics and mathematical modeling.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Godoy has held various positions such as a PhD Candidate in the Computational Biomechanics Laboratory at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and a Research Assistant II at the University of California San Diego.

Additionally, he has experience as a Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) Fellow, an Undergraduate Researcher, a Technology Support Technician, and a Research Assistant I at different prestigious institutions.
