Hey everyone! I’m looking to take on new clients or a new role and would appreciate your support.
Specifically, I'm most interested in marketing and editorial writing and editing opportunities in a remote work setting - though I'm also open to co-located work if you're in the San Antonio or Austin area - on a freelance or full-time basis.
If you know of any such opportunities or just want to catch up, send me a message or comment below. I appreciate your help, and let's talk soon! #OpenToWork
Good advice from Kip Knight.
Regularly asking staff the 5 questions in his article is a good way to orient yourself around your people and help them improve. And getting the most out of your people over the short and long term is the job of every manager, right?
It's easy to get caught up in the day to day grind of running an organization and neglect to invest enough time in the people who make it go. It's not easy to invest that time, particularly in a corporate culture that doesn't make it a priority -- when I was EiC of Engadget, I focused on growing audience and putting out fires, because those were the company mandated measures of success. Unfortunately, I don't think my experience is unique.
Even if the larger company culture isn't there, you can (and should) strive to create a human-centered environment for all your people -- and reap the benefits of having a motivated, ever-improving, and engaged team.
