SF skies lit up for the APEC CEO Summit USA 2023 this week.

Grounding and inspiring to hear what’s top of mind from a mix of global CEOs and heads of state representing a really diverse set of countries, from Chile to Vietnam, Australia to Peru, to the U.S. and China.

APEC countries account for 60 percent of the world's total GDP and nearly 50 percent of the world's trade.

Thankful to President Biden for underscoring in his APEC Summit remarks today the important role industry plays, including Amazon, in helping drive interconnection across the APEC region:

“And American businesses. . . are the largest source of foreign direct investment into APEC economies.  In fact, if we take just the U.S. companies represented here at this summit and look at their new investments [into] APEC economies in the calendar year, it totaled more than $50 billion so far.

“Investments announced today from companies like Amazon, United, Delta, Microsoft to make sure our region is more inclusive and interconnected.”

Despite many differences, lots of shared focus on the need for climate action, harnessing AI/ML for all while mitigating risks, and strengthening economic ties. And surprisingly, despite a dark time in the world, a healthy dose of pragmatic optimism.

Big thanks to amazing colleagues who led our APEC engagement throughout the year Karuna Ramakrishnan Ari Giovenco Nate Giordano and many more 🌎 🙌🏼🙏🏼

See link to the White House press release in the comments, highlighting some of the specific commitments Amazon made at APEC.
