Everyone is worried about massive cyber attacks while software vendor updates and patches are causing nationwide outages all on their own lately. Et tu, CrowdStrike?

I’ve said this a million times before but, again, vendor patches should always be thoroughly tested before a full organizational release. We’ve come to rely so much on cloud-based automatic updates and then this happens.

Furthermore, organizations with adequate disaster recovery and continuity plans (ones that are well laid out and regularly tested) seem to be addressing this fairly quickly and in an organized manner while some others without them struggle to resume major operations. Always have a plan for such outages detailing how to react, respond, and recover from them and test it routinely.
