This week at work: Feedback as a gift. The ability to give and receive constructive feedback is one of the most important skills for productive work and #education. Here’s how we honed those mindsets:
• Inspired by designer David Carson, my #graphicdesign students created collage images with old magazines, to breakdown the obstacles of what is “good” or the “right” way of doing things. • Next, they created personal websites as digital portfolios where they will authentically publish their assignments throughout the year. • As a class, we assessed their website design and collages, to learn how to give constructive feedback, and learn from others.
In my book and online course, I talk a lot about how to create meaningful assessments that inspire and motivate students to do their best and maintain academic integrity, skills that are as vital to the #workplace as they are in #education spaces.
