On this #IWD24 I think a lot about the women who have (against the odds) formed an indelible mark on my work and my life.
I think about the women in my own family, especially my mother, who is no longer with us...someone who taught me about grit and resilience in the face of systems not designed to help single mothers succeed.
I think of the many colleagues over the years who have had to work 2-3x as hard as their male counterparts. And. In acknowledging that, I reaffirm my commitment to stand up and call out when I observe inequity.
I do want to express gratitude today. I will start by appreciating and celebrating some of the women at Probably Genetic, like Erika Noriega and Katt Clark, who have joined me on this exciting new mission, and Abby D'Cruz and Gisele Cazaudumec who in just four weeks have taught me so much about Rare Disease and Patient Advocacy. I appreciate all the many leaders I've had the privilege to look up to in my career (like Julie Rogers, Jane Nguyen, Carrie Brandes, Vanessa Freeman, Faith Sedlin, Corina Davis, Laura Malinasky and Nikki Hampton, SPHR) who have role modeled for me how critical our work is to #inspireinclusion and see a more just and equitable future for our organizations.
