With Thanksgiving approaching, I’ve been thinking about what I’m grateful for in my career. So many things come to mind that although LinkedIn’s 3K character limit seems insufficient, I felt compelled to contribute yet another cliché gratitude post to your feed. So, after 8+ years with CyberCoders, here goes:
I’m grateful to have joined an organization where from day one I have been constantly challenged and pushed to become my best self. Grateful to work with a group of people who didn’t just tolerate me being the goofy, crazy person that I am, but encouraged me to do so and celebrated me for it. Thank you to my long-time coworkers who I can also call great friends: Danny Herries, Aaron Frankel Richard Marion, Meaghan Curran, Caroline V., Kurt Holzmuller, Connor Bray, and so many others.
I’m grateful to have joined a company who saw promise in a 23 year old recent college grad who had never had an “adult” job. A headstrong and sometimes insubordinate new hire who insisted on doing things his own way. A guy who spent more time playing ping pong, throwing a football, and rapidly depleting the company kitchen’s food supply than sitting at a desk.
These sound like some bad characteristics for a new hire at a sales job, right? On my first day out of training, Aaron Frankel told me "nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care." Aaron and other leaders (Cody Friend, Bobby June) cared enough to help shape this unpolished new hire into a success story.
I’m grateful for stability and growth in my career. Grateful to have a job in which positive results translate directly into compensation. You truly get out what you put in here, and I’ve been lucky to work in a role which has enabled me to invest, buy properties, travel the world, and of course indulge in some incredible food and drink(s).
I’m grateful for my team who have continued to push hard and persevere despite some tough market conditions this year. Big things to come for each of you Kris Riegle, Michael Linder, Patrick Riegle, Gagan Kaur, Michael Ramsey, and Zachary Hite.
We truly become the average of the 5-10 people we surround ourselves with. After 8+ years, I can safely say that I’m okay with that.
