Despite our Juneuary weather it was great fun to enjoy the U.S. Independence Day barbecue at the U.S. Consulate Vancouver. Thanks to Consul General Jim DeHart (on the guitar) and his wife Lisa and their team for a celebration of shared U.S.-Canada values and cooperation. Thanks to Jim and his team who have been very supportive of cross-border work on Pacific salmon conservation and the Pacific Salmon Foundation. With Ava Farbarik and Elizabeth Marshall.

Larry Pynn has done an excellent feature story for Hakai Magazine on log booms in rivers and estuaries and their negative affects on Pacific salmon and other marine life. Pacific Salmon Foundation along with BC Conservation Foundation and Cowichan Tribes have been studying this issue for many years and it is great to see this issue getting attention.
